RIP
We tragically lost Kismet in a terrible incident on April 16th, 2019. We are heartbroken beyond words.
We brought Kismet in from the Potting Shed in Ontario, and boy are we excited to have her here! She brings a lot to the table and we can't wait to see what she does for our herd. She freshened with a stunning first udder, tightly attached with exceptional teat size and placement, a strong medial, and a lovely smooth foreudder. She is very easy to milk and peaked at just under 2 liters a day in her first freshening, maintaining about a liter a day in a once a day milking well into her lactation.
Her dam, Potting Shed FG Maggie, appraised VG 89. As a 4th freshener, she was producing 3 liters of milk a day at her peak. Maggie's full littermate sister Maxie was Grand Champion at the 2017 Canadian East National Show. Maggie's doelings from 2016 won East National Junior Champion (one was left dry) and first place yearling milker, and she has produced many other successful daughters.
Kismet's sire, Fairlea AY Jackson is a US import with a very stacked pedigree. His dam Fairlea Margereen (EEEE 91)is a 5th generation champion, and 5th generation doe to classify excellent and to earn their milk star. AY Jackson has produced multiple champions, including the 2016 East National Grand Champion doe, Potting Shed AYJ Marion.
